The Best in Myself & Others

Student Creed 2: I intend to develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others.
When students test for black belt, they are required to write an essay. For Cho Dans, the question they must answer is what their martial arts training means to them. These essays offer wonderful reflections on how much martial arts training has affected their lives, making them stronger both mentally and physically.
But the real pleasure we get from reading these essays comes not only from understanding how martial arts has affected each student, but also from seeing how it has affected the people around them. Students who begin living healthier lifestyles help those around them become healthier, too. Those who make good, positive choices inspire their friends and families to make better choices for themselves as well.
Martial arts is like a disease…but a positive one! The virus spreads from person to person, with the symptoms stretching like a web across our community. When you train this week, remember that your training doesn’t just make you a better person; it also helps make your community a better, stronger place.
Want an activity that makes you stronger physically and mentally, both for yourself and your community?
